It is proven that cord blood can be stored for 30 years and the cells will remain viable. It is believed that cord blood will be able to be stored for much longer, as continued validation happens over time. Bone marrow has been stored for decades using the same cryo-preservation techniques, so there is no reason to believe that the same would not be true for cord blood and tissue stem cells.

These releases have been for the treatment of thalassaemia, neuroblastoma, diabetes, cerebral palsy, severe congenital neutropenia, chronic granulomatous disease, T cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, acute myeloid leukaemia and hypotonia-developmental delay.

Everything is stored and processed in Cells for Life's facility. Cells for Life have taken all possible measures to ensure the safety of the cells stored. For example, the tanks are self-powered for 7 days in the event that power is lost. Sprinklers are fitted throughout the facility and the fire brigade are within close proximity. Entry into the facility is forbidden without the use of the proper security passes. Cells for Life also have 24/7 ‘back to base’ alarm systems.

Cells for Life have many different payment plans available. The options are to store either the cord blood on its own or both the cord blood and the tissue. You then also choose if you wish to store for 18 years or 30 years. For cord blood only, you can store for 18 years for a total cost of $1,898 and for 30 years the total cost is $2,898. For cord blood and tissue, you can store for 18 years for a total of $3,356 or for 30 years the total is $4,901. From here you can choose to pay a lump sum or over 12 or 24 monthly payments.
